2024 Concert Calendar

All are welcome for free concerts held at Fort Hunt Park every Sunday in June, July and August. Concerts are held at Pavilion A. Unless otherwise noted with an asterisk (*), concerts begin at 7:00 p.m. There are picnic tables in the pavilion, but bringing your own chair or blanket is recommended as seating is limited.

June 2- National Concert Band of America

The National Concert Band of America (NCBA) was founded in 1974 by veterans and legendary players from each of the Washington-area military service bands. As such, the group's heritage lies in the history and traditions of the Military Bands of the U.S. Armed Forces. Currently, membership includes veterans of the country's great military service bands, as well as civilian musicians who have demonstrated outstanding instrumental proficiency and musicianship.

June 9- Collective Delusion

Collective Delusion plays an electric variety of rock music from the 1970s to today at various events throughout Northern Virginia and the DC Metro Area. The band is composed of members with various influences from folk to jazz and two rocking ladies leading vocals.

June 16- Surf Jaguars

The Surf Jaguars play a variety "beach party” show—Beach Boys, Elvis, the Black Keys, Dick Dale, the Ventures—and original compositions, to boot. Come out for a rockin' good time!

June 23- Nitehawks
One of DC's best big bands returns to Fort Hunt! Nitehawks Swing Band has played community performances in Northern Virginia since 1997.

June 30 - 456 Jazz Grass Trio

456 Trio is Northern Virginia jazz & bluegrass acoustic music at its finest! Started in 2021, 456 Trio plays an entertaining variety of genres from bluegrass to pop to blues to straight ahead jazz. Musicians include Pictrola’s Evan Sands on banjo and Mike Shade on lead vocals and acoustic guitar, with Stew Welch of DiscoSpears on the upright bass. The setlist is always surprising and groove is always strong with these three!

July 7 – Sticky G

Sticky G is an acoustic band from Gaithersburg, Maryland and Lewes, Delaware that has performed in the mid-Atlantic region since 2014. Using guitar, mandolin, banjo, concertina, bass, Irish flute and harmonica, Sticky G Music performs family-friendly covers of classic rock.

July 14 - Mount Vernon Community Band

The Mount Vernon Community Band was formed in 1978. Since then, it has brought performances including marches, light classic, popular showtunes, patriotic selections and overtures to various community events.

July 21 – Silver Tones Swing Band*

Please note: The Silver Tones concert will begin at 7:30, thirty minutes later than every other concert this year.

The Silver Tones Swing Band is made up of professional musicians from the Northern Virginia area. This high-energy swing orchestra has performed all over the DC Metropolitan Area at countless galas and special celebrations. The Silver Tones are proud to bring to the stage the Silver Belles vocal trio, who recreate the exciting music of the Andrews Sisters from the 1940s era and delight the crowd with their rich three-part harmonies. Solo vocalists Wendy Marie and Gene Bates bring to life the music of Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Peggy Lee, Dean Martin, and other big band greats. The Silver Tones’ show also includes music from the 1950s, 60s, and 70s by artists like Aretha Franklin, The Temptations, The Beatles, Elvis, Etta James, Bobby Darin, Natalie Cole, and others. This 18-piece swing orchestra, led by trumpeter Dave Shuma and vocalist Wendy Marie, is sure to get your toes tapping in a hurry! Join us on the dance floor!

July 28- Blue Book Value Band

The Blue Book Value Band has been playing in the Washington, DC metro area since 1996.  In addition to blues and swing, they play a bit of rock n' roll, as well as a few current popular songs. The band’s repertoire includes songs by Junior Wells, Susan Tedeschi, Ray Charles, Sara Bareilles, Sheryl Crow, Otis Redding and many others.

August 4 - Starlight Orchestra

The Starlight Orchestra specializes in jazz music composed between the swing era and modern times. They have performed in the Washington, DC area for more than twenty years.

August 11 - Blue Breeze Band

Blue Breeze is an Americana music combo formed in 2022 by four members of the Bluegrass band, The Fairlington Raccoons (founded in 2017), to play a wider range of acoustic hits. The band likes to explore everything from traditional country to folk and acoustic rock. Having played together for years, Blue Breeze has amassed a large repertoire. Combining tight rhythm and harmonies, Blue Breeze covers classic songs by artists such as Doc Watson, Hank Williams Sr, Patsy Cline and The Grateful Dead that will make you want to sing along!

August 18 – Hot Lanes

The Hot Lanes is a 16-piece culmination of a vision Bobby Jasinski had in 2014. With influences ranging from Wynton Marsalis to the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, the focus of The Hot Lanes is to promote jazz in the DC metropolitan area. Featuring diverse and talented group of musicians, The Hot Lanes encourages jazz music through concerts, festivals, educational masterclasses in the public school system and other appearances.

August 25 - Alte Kameraden

Alte Kameraden or “old comrades” is the title of a popular German military march. This group has belonged to the City of Fairfax Band since its founding in 1977. Alte Kameraden has introduced American audiences to the lush, spirited festmusik of Bavarian lands.
